Daniel Field Clinic – FAQ: About Us Section
Q1. Who is Daniel Field?
Daniel Field is a pioneer in natural hair and scalp care. He is internationally recognised for creating cancer-safe hairdressing and later personal care products. He has helped tens of thousands of people navigate hair and skin challenges with dignity. His name is trusted by both medical professionals and the public due to over four decades of consistent, expert-led innovation.
Q2. Is this clinic part of the NHS, a charity, or a private company?
Daniel Field Clinic is a private, specialist-led care service. We are not part of the NHS or a charity, although many NHS professionals recommend our support informally. We operate on a direct-to-consumer model so that we can remain independent, responsive, and centred around each family’s needs.
Q3. Are you doctors, nurses, or something else?
Our consultants are trained in oncology-safe hair and skin care and have years of experience supporting people undergoing cancer treatment. While we are not medical doctors or nurses, we work alongside medical teams and never offer treatment advice — only specialist personal care that complements clinical care safely.
Q4. Where are you based?
We are based in the UK but operate globally. Daniel Field’s laboratory and formulation centre is in Hertfordshire. All consultations are provided online for easy, modern and sustainable accessibility.
Q5. Do hospitals recognise or collaborate with you officially?
We are recognised and respected by private cancer centres both in the UK and abroad. Most of our clients hear about us through nurses, oncologists, or other patients. We are not officially embedded within the hospital system.
Q6. Do you work with oncologists or just provide cosmetic advice?
We do not replace or interfere with oncology care. Our advice is cosmetic, supportive, and focused on preserving comfort, dignity, and skin/scalp health through cancer treatment. Many interested oncologists are aware of our work and often encourage their patients to use us for personal care support.
Q7. If I ask my oncologist or nurse about you, will they know who you are?
Often yes — especially in the UK and the US. We've supported thousands of patients referred by hospital staff. That said, we recommend showing them our product safety information if they are unfamiliar.
Q8. Are you officially endorsed by cold cap companies like Paxman or Dignitana?
No. We are not commercially affiliated with Paxman or Dignitana at this time. Our support systems and products have been shown to enhance comfort and scalp outcomes for people using all brands of cold caps, and many users of those systems turn to us for extra help.
Q9. Have your products or services been discussed at medical conferences or featured in journals?
Our approach is likely discussed at oncology events and in professional networks, particularly by Cancer Nurse Specialists. We do not, however, feel the need to publish papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Q10. Do you follow NICE guidelines or equivalent?
We respect and complement NICE guidelines but are not governed by them, as we are not a medical service. Our protocols are built on evidence-based cosmetic science and years of post-treatment client experience.
Q11. What’s the catch? If this is free, how do you survive?
We offer our advice and consultation time for free because we believe every person deserves expert help during a vulnerable time. We are funded through product sales — and our products are only ever recommended if they are suitable and safe for your situation.
Q12. Is this safe advice — or will I get in trouble with my medical team if I follow it?
Everything we provide is non-medical and designed not to conflict with treatment. We recommend that you inform your team and share our product ingredients or safety sheets with them if you have any concerns.
Q13. How long have you been helping people with cancer?
Our founder, Daniel Field, began supporting cancer patients with specialist chemo-safe hair colour in the early 1980s. The Daniel Field Clinic started in London’s Harley Street in 2013. We have been providing free online support since Covid in 2020 and have now helped thousands of people across the world.
Q14. What’s your success rate preventing temporary hair loss?
Some people not expected to keep their hair have kept it fully. Others have experienced milder losses than expected. Preventing permanent hair loss, hair deformity, and achieving faster regrowth are common benefits with our help. We do not promise guaranteed results — we promise safe, honest, expert care tailored to you.
Q15. Are your founders or staff survivors themselves?
Let’s be honest — cancer has touched all of us, and some of our staff have personal or family experience. Our focus is always on professional expertise, not personal stories. We support every client with equal care, regardless of background.
